Thor: The God of Thunder

I watched Thor last night with my dearest and sister. I am in love with THOR/Chris Hemsworth. He is so feckin' hot! :D Deep piercing blue eyes, hot body and a cute accent. I eye-raped him throughout the movie. He gained 20 pounds of muscle to play Thor. During and interview, he said, “I put on a lot of weight. It was purely eating, eating, eating, working out and working out, trying to sleep as much as you can." Besides having a hot superhero, the movie itself was awesome, too. *squeels* Thor...*drooollllssss* I'm gonna rate it 10/10 :D

Oh, blue eyes......

Black Swan: A dancing, psychological thriller

Black Swan is an intense, and sort of scary psychological thriller. Natalie Portman, who did her own dancing, does a fine job portraying the obsessive compulsive ballerina. But it is the artistry of Darren Aronofsky that really enables the viewer to see the flow of events through Nina's eyes. The visuals are frightening and effective, and there is no predicting when you're going to see something really scary.
Mila Kunis, known for her role as the voice of Meg in Family Guy, turns out a strong performance as Lily. Up until now she was most recognised as the voice of Meg Griffith from Family Guy and lovable brat Jackie from hit TV show That 70s Show. Not after this she won’t be.

Anyway, back to the film. It’s not for the faint hearted, not that it’s contains particularly graphic violence (well, there is a bit), but its just quite a heavy subject matter. Ballet combined with mental disorders, infused with fierce competition and some hefty sexual content makes for a great movie.

Portman plays a ballet dancer, Nina, who wins the much coveted lead in ‘Swan Lake’. While she appears to be perfect for the role of the pure and innocent White Swan, she begins to lose her mind and becomes more like the evil sister of the White Swan, the Black Swan.

Mila Kunis comes in through Lily, who’s carefree attitude bothers Nina to such an extent that she becomes paranoid that Lily has befriended her in order to steal the lead role. It becomes obvious that Nina suffers from extreme visual hallucinations and delusions drizzled with a bit of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Nina and her extreme love for ballet added to her natural shyness can come across as cold, and as her obsession with mastering her dancing role grows, she becomes even more strange and creepy.

It must be said, Black Swan is Portman’s show the whole way. Her mastery of ballet is unbelievable, her dance as the transformed black swan is truly delectable and her portrayal of deterioration is simply magnificent.

Furthermore, she has a terrifying scene that damn near scared the crap out of me. The director manages to make this feel original, and it's amazing how he can take the subject of classical ballet and make it really scary.

Gulliver's Travels Review (It's actually literature)

I just came back from the cinema watching Gulliver's Travels staring Jack Black. In this adaptation of Jonathan Swift's classic piece, Jack Black plays Limuel(or Lemuel?) Gulliver, a guy who works in a mailroom at a New York newspaper office. He has been working there for 10 years and has a huge crush on one of his colleagues, Darcy Silverman. One fine night, before he was about to punch out, he dropped by Darcy's office and wanted to ask her out on a date. But, when he finally got the nerves to ask her out, he suddenly backs out into an assignment making her think he's interested in becoming a travel writer. After he turns in a plagiarized writing sample, Darcy assigns Gulliver a feature story about the Bermuda Triangle, where he sails into a storm that lands him on the island kingdom of Lilliput (funny name).

And that’s when his rented 'ship', the “Knotferseil,” is sucked into a whirlpool and dropped, with Gulliver, in a land of English-accented Lilliputians(is that what you call them?), ruled by a king, queen, and a prissy princes(princess Mary) and an arrogant General Edward Edwardian, suitor to the princess.

There, he proves himself a hero, befriends Horatio; a commoner who's in love with Princess Mary, and proceeds to lie spectacularly about himself to the everyone, since, for once in his life, he's loved. But everything's in jeopardy when the princess' betrothed, General Edward starts to feel threatened and eventually betrays his kingdom.

Whether you'll enjoy this movie or not all boils down to how much you enjoy Jack Black's brand of humor. For those who consider him an irresistible jokester, this is a slightly better-than-average comedy with a bunch of pop culture references and that signature Jack Black comedy. Audiences who are not so into Black's charm may be less amused by this adaptation, but there are enough silly laughs, talented supporting actors, and broad sight gags (such as the fully made-up KISS band for the Guitar Hero) to make this a rather decent family pick.

Adele: Rise of the mummy review

So here's my take on this movie. As fierce as the title may sound, the movie is sort of the opposite of what you may have expected.

The title of the movie was suppose to be "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec". I don't know why they would want to change it to Adele: Rise Of the Mummy. You might enter the movie hall expecting a Mummy series; which is of course not. This movie is based on a French comic book by French writer Jacques Tardi. The movie was dubbed into English, of course.

There was no pace if you ask me, and the plot was kinda weird. I think the original title suits the movie better as it was not all about mummies. It was Adele's journey, adventures and encounterments.
It's more of a comedic movie. For starters, mummies are from egypt, they should be speaking their egyptian language.Instead, they spoke british english; pretty formal british/posh english. Lol?
Anyway, I would rate it a 3/5. I can't even remember some parts of the movie. The ending was kinda sucky too.
